In the centre rests a beautiful faceted 1.5ct ‘Rose de France’ amethyst surrounded by an intricate open scrollwork bezel made of silver and set with 14 rose cut diamonds. This design is typical of Austro-Hungarian jewellery, bold and very Holbeinesque in nature, a type of renaissance revival jewellery that rose to prominence in the 1870’s.
