









Antique Islamic Ring with Early Seal
The bright red jasper intaglio seal is intricately engraved in angular Kufic script with forked and wedge-shaped terminals which dates the seal to the 9th-12th centuries (Porter, 2011). The engraving translates to a name: ‘Basheer Khan bin Shahr Khan Lillah’.
The oval intaglio with smooth bevelled edges and a recessed centre is set within a later silver mount engraved with crosshatched detailing, probably dating to 19th century.

The ring weighs 8.12g silver, the stone measures 13mm x 10mm, the ring is unmarked but tests as high-grade silver.
