Art Deco Emerald Ring

An antique Italian platinum and emerald ring, dating to circa 1920.

A striking and finely made example, centred with a natural emerald of approximately 0.7ct, displaying an exceptionally rich green colour and pleasing clarity; likely of Colombian origin. The emerald is framed by six old mine cut diamonds, bright and well matched, totalling approximately 0.7ct, arranged within an elegant openwork mount.

The platinum setting is beautifully executed with delicate millegrain detailing throughout, creating a light and airy structure characteristic of the period as design moved from the flowing Belle Époque into the more geometric language of Art Deco. The open-backed settings allow light to pass through the stones, enhancing their natural brilliance.

The ring remains in good overall condition. There is a small loss to one corner of the emerald, hardly noticeable to the eye when worn and reflected in the price; it does not affect the structural integrity of the ring.
