Regency Repoussé Locket Ring

An unusual and intriguing piece from the early 19th century, this antique gold ring dates to around 1830, during the British Regency period. Crafted in 15K gold, the band is boldly chased with continuous floral repoussé work, forming a richly textured surface that wraps all the way around the ring.

Its domed, convex profile gives the ring a substantial presence on the finger, measuring 9mm wide and weighing a solid 11.6 grams. But what sets this piece apart is a discreet hinged section concealed on the interior of the band. When opened, it reveals a hidden compartment—likely intended to hold a small personal keepsake, such as a note or a lock of hair. These secret compartments were a sentimental feature in Georgian and Regency jewellery, used to keep loved ones close, either in life or in mourning.

The ring is unmarked but tests as 15K gold. It is a UK size N½ (US 7).

Condition: Very good antique condition. The hinge and closure of the compartment are well-preserved and functional. The floral detailing remains crisp, with minimal wear consistent with age.
