Victorian Diamond and Ruby Navette Ring
A truly stunning French Victorian era ring dating to around 1895. This navette-shaped cluster is constructed with 18 silver set rose cut diamonds surrounding seven rubies (1ct in total). The vibrant pinkish rubies are aligned vertically within the interior diamond marquise border. The D-shaped band is crafted in 18K gold and leads to tapered and pointed shoulders which are very typical of the period. They adjoin to an intricately pierced gallery all the way around. The rubies and diamonds are in open-back settings (uncommon for the period) which explains why they all still they glisten so marvellously as the light is able to pass through the back, unlike the typical closed-back and foiled settings of the Georgian and Victorian period which are prone to dirt and grit building up behind the stone over time.

French makers lozenge mark present as well as control marks indicating 18K gold and silver. The navette bezel measures 30mm north to south and 12mm east to west. Diamonds measure 2mm in diameter
