Victorian Opal Solitaire Ring

Victorian Opal Solitaire Ring

A beautiful opal solitaire ring dating from the late Victorian period, circa 1900. Crafted in 9K gold, the ring features a claw-set opal cabochon weighing approximately 1.68 carats.

The opal displays vibrant flashes of neon green with subtle undertones of lavender and pink, depending on the angle and light—typical of high-quality Victorian-era stones.
It’s set in an open gallery with four talon-shaped prongs, supported by softly tapered shoulders.

Opals were particularly beloved in the Victorian era, symbolising hope and creativity. Their play-of-colour was thought to bring luck to the wearer.

UK ring size N (US size 6.5). The inside of the band bears a 9ct gold hallmark. Total weight: 1.73g.

Condition: Very good antique condition. The opal is securely set, and the gold retains its original warm tone and gentle antique patina. Minor surface wear to the band consistent with age.
