Belle Époque Gold Cluster Ring
A striking Belle Époque gold ring, circa 1910. At its centre is a cluster of old European-cut diamonds, totalling approximately 0.7 carats, set in delicate millegrain mounts. The diamonds are held in position by parallel gold wire frames, encircled by a border of vibrant rubies. The open-backed design allowing light to pass through the stones and also ensures easy cleaning, a feature often seen in fine jewellery from this period.
Crafted in solid 14K gold, the ring weighs 6.82 grams and is stamped with a 585 hallmark, alongside a maker's mark. The use of gold wire as the backing - a rare design choice - adds a unique architectural aesthetic to the piece.
This ring is a UK size V (US size 10.5), which is quite a large size but it is easily resizable. The gem-set bezel measures 29mm x 18mm. The ring is in very good condition, with all stones securely mounted, making it perfect for both occasional and daily wear.
A beautiful example of Belle Époque artistry, this ring embodies the era’s preference for light and airy designs.
