Belle Époque Pearl Toi et Moi
A charming antique French belle époque pearl ‘toi et moi’ engagement ring with rose cut diamonds, circa 1900.
The band is crafted in 18K gold and overlaps itself at the front in ‘toi et moi’ design. The ‘toi et moi’, translating to you and me, is one of the most historic ring setting styles symbolising everlasting love.
The silver-topped gold shoulders are set with rose cut diamonds. The two pearls are drilled and rotate around the central rod which is decorated with a rose cut diamond on each side.
UK size K, US size 5.25
The ring weighs 4.12 grams. It is stamped with a French ‘tête d’aigle’ (eagle head) hallmark to indicate 18K gold made in Paris.
The pearls measure 5mm in diameter whilst the diamonds measure 2mm across.
The ring is in great condition despite its age, upon loupe magnification there is a tiny scratch to the nacre of one of the pearls. All the stones are set securely. The rose cut diamonds are all in open-backed settings to allow for easy cleaning and for light to pass through the stones.
