Victorian Bloodstone Signet Ring
A classic late Victorian signet ring, crafted in solid 18K gold around 1900. The ring features a rectangular bloodstone panel, measuring 10 x 8 mm, with excellent dark green colour and evenly distributed bright red flecks, hallmarks of high-quality heliotrope.
This signet is notable for its crisp architectural detailing, with a stepped geometric motif running down the shoulders, reminiscent of a stylised ladder. It has a satisfying weight of 9 grams, providing a substantial yet comfortable presence on the hand.
Historically, these rings were engraved with personal monograms or heraldic crests. This example remains unengraved, making it a rare survivor and a blank canvas for future personalisation.
It is stamped with a clear 18K hallmark and tests as 18K gold. The ring is a UK size S (US 9). Condition is very good overall, with light surface wear and signs of an historic resizing.
Bloodstone, the March birthstone, was traditionally associated with bravery, believed to stop bleeding and worn by warriors for protection in battle. A wearable piece of symbolism and strength from the Victorian period.
