Victorian Albert Chain Necklace
An unusual antique Victorian gold ‘Albert’ necklace, made by PD&SS in Birmingham, dating from around 1880.
This antique chain is crafted in solid 9K gold with a fantastic (and typically Victorian!) subtle, rosy gold hue. It is completed with a T-bar attachment and two ‘dog clip’ clasps.
The necklace weighs an impressive 40.5 grams in total. This type of chain is known as an Albert chain. Traditionally, it would have been hung from a gentleman’s waist coat and been attached to his pocket watch, but today these chains look even better when worn as a necklace!
The necklace has a wearable length of 48cm (19 inches). It carries Victorian hallmarks for 9K gold on the clasps and the necklace remains in excellent condition despite its significant age!
