Antique Gold Mabé Pearl Solitaire Ring
An unusual large antique mabé pearl solitaire ring dating to the first half of the 20th century, circa 1920. In the centre of the 18K gold ring is a large mabé pearl held in position with six naturalistic claws almost like a star fish gripping onto the pearl. The band is of a D-shaped cross section and tapers down towards the back.
UK size Q 1/2, US size 8.5
The ring weighs a nice 8.7 grams and the pearl measures 12mm x 12mm x 6mm on its longest axes. The pearl protrudes 12mm from the base of the finger and the band has a width of 3mm. The ring is in great overall condition, although the setting could be slightly tightened (easy fix for a jeweller).
The inner band carries a set of hallmarks (possibly Scandinavian) for 18K gold.
