Antique Old Cut Diamond Solitaire

Antique Old Cut Diamond Solitaire

A stunning antique Victorian diamond solitaire ring, made in Vienna, circa 1890.

The 14K gold ring, crafted during the Austro-Hungarian empire period, is set with a dazzling old mine cut diamond, approximately 1ct in weight. It is belcher set in an open-backed mount which smoothly tapers towards the back. The stone has a fantastic bright white colour with excellent clarity and a large open culet, allowing it to sparkle marvellously.

UK ring size R, US size 8.5.

The ring weighs 5.45 grams. The inner band is stamped with an Austro-Hungarian wolf mark, which indicates a fineness of 14K gold, the city of Vienna and the years 1872-1922.

Despite being around 120 years old, the ring remains in great condition and has a beautifully silky feel on the finger from years of wear! Upon close inspection there is evidence of a past historic resizing on the back of the ring. The bezel measures 3mm across at the back.
