A beautiful antique French opal solitaire ring dating from the late Victorian period, circa 1900. The ring is crafted in 18K gold and features a centrally mounted 0.4ct opal cabochon.
The opal is a lovely specimen and displays lovely flashes of greens and blues throughout. The stone is prong-set in an open-gallery and arched shoulders.
UK size K 1/2, US size 5.5
The ring weighs 1.9 grams, and is stamped with a French 18K gold ‘eagle head’ hallmark, alongside the makers mark JC. The opal measures 7mm x 5mm x 2mm, the ring band measures 1.5mm across. Upon loupe magnification, one tiny prong is slightly damaged but the stone is still very securely set and the opal and ring remain in fantastic condition!
