At the centre sits a bright white Old European cut diamond of approximately 0.65 carats, bezel set into the gold and left open-backed to allow light to pass through the stone. The diamond is almost certainly earlier than the ring itself, likely repurposed from a late 19th or early 20th century jewel, a practice commonly seen in mid-20th century French goldsmithing.
