A lovely and rare antique regional French Bressan enamelled necklace dating to the early 20th century. The silver necklace is set with seven circular plaques which are intricately worked with brightly coloured enamel in floral patterns, craftsmanship of the French city of Bourg-en-Bresse in the region of Bourgogne.
In each of the silver plaques, alternating vibrant greens and reds enamels on a guilloché ground are decorated with gold volute floral lattices and white enamel crosses.
The chain is crafted from French silver (800 silver) with the pendants of silver tone metal base.
The necklace measures 44cm or 17.5â and weighs 17.64 grams in total.
The pendants range in diameter from 20mm, 15mm, 12mm and 10mm.
Tradition Bressan enamelled jewels date back to the 14th century, when the townâs enameller, MaĂźtre Guillaume, was commissioned to decorate the pommel and scabbard of the Duke of Savoy AmĂ©dĂ©e VIII.
